Granular Applicators (PA4)

Technical Award

Summary / Introduction

Granular applicators can be used to control different landscape ailments such as insects, weeds or diseases. If the Granular Applicator is used correctly then for minimum cost the results obtained will be great, however incorrect use can have the reverse effect. It is therefore important when using the granular applicator that the correct product and settings are chosen, making training a key requirement. The Level 2 Award in the Safe Granular Application has been developed in direct response to a legal requirement for users to hold a recognised specified certificate. This is required before using pesticide products to protect plants and crops from pests and diseases, and for the control of unwanted plants/weeds. Since 26 November 2015, anyone who is purchasing a pesticide authorised for professional use must ensure the product will be used by someone who holds a specified certificate or who will be working under the direct supervision of someone who holds one. A specified certificate is one which relates to the relevant use of the product being purchased.
