Summary / Introduction

Undertaking the Level 2 Award in Using a Powered Pole Pruner will enable you to prove your competence in forestry and/or arboriculture operations and evidence your ability to meet licence to practice and/or other legal requirements made by the relevant sector, professional or industry. If you achieve this qualification, you will have the opportunity to obtain a competency card for employment within your key professional sector, thus enabling further employment opportunities for which competency is a significant requirement.

Target Audience

If you are over the age of 16 and wish to develop your knowledge, understanding and skills and require proof of competence within your field of expertise then this course is suitable for you. Your role may require you to use your skills across a range of trees and timber operations. The qualification aims to ensure you can be confident the minimum standards of good working practices are observed/followed at all times. The qualification has been devised with the key aim for you, the learner to successfully evidence your competence in forestry and arboriculture operations. Individual learning programmes can be tailored to your needs whilst enabling you to achieve or work towards achieving a national competence qualification or improve your opportunities.

Description

The course includes the knowledge and competences required to safely use a Powered Pole Pruner. This includes being able to work safely and to industry good practice, whilst being carrying checks before and after completing tasks using a Powered Pole Pruner.

Product Objectives

From undertaking this qualification, you will:

  • Gain knowledge and understanding across a range of forestry and arboriculture functions and activities
  • Be able to work effectively in a forestry and arboriculture environment, both independently and as part of a team
  • Be able to review and develop your own practices and carry out a range of practical forestry and arboriculture tasks, to the required industry standard
  • Improve your awareness of health and safety legislation, as well as your awareness of how individuals can contribute to the Health and Safety Executive’s (HSE) agenda
  • Obtain occupational competence and/or licence to practice
  • Meet the licence to practice or other legal requirements made by the relevant sector, professional or industry
